The Delaware County Office of the Public Defender is seeking attorneys to provide excellent indigent criminal representation and help reform the criminal justice system. Start your career on the front lines of the criminal justice reform movement in an office with leadership committed to a client–centered practice. Our job, in court, every day, is to pursue justice in the face of systemic oppression born from over incarceration, disparate impact on communities of color under-resourced neighborhoods, and unconstitutional police practices. We need experienced public defenders and new attorneys.

Addiction & Recovery Services

Experienced attorneys will have the support necessary to fight for their clients in court every day.  New lawyers will gain the skills necessary to be excellent trial lawyers and learn how to translate their passion for justice into persuasive arguments that can make a real impact on people’s lives and the entire system. 

Delaware County, Pennsylvania borders West & Southwest Philadelphia. Our lawyers and support staff directly serve many of the county’s most vulnerable citizens. 

We are implementing change–not just talking about it. We’re bringing innovative best practices to our office, updating technology, improving client intake and communication,  building stronger connections between our office and the communities that we serve, creating social work and investigative units, increasing diversity, developing reentry and diversion programs with other community stakeholders, reimagining juvenile justice, trying to reduce the overall prison population, increasing access to justice, engaging with the broader statewide defender network, and developing excellent trial attorneys. At the same time, Delco Defenders’ leadership is engaged with the larger movement for criminal justice reform and zealous indigent defense at the local, state and national level.
